Rhetorical Analysis

The people who wrote the text also known as the author of the articles of “The Whitney/Brandy Cinderella Was One of the Most Important Movies of the ’90s” which was made by R. Eric Thomas and “Brandy’s Black Cinderella Made The Impossible Possible In Hollywood” which was made by Vicky mochama are very interesting and different for each other. The author for the article R. Eric. Thomas “The Whitney/Brandy Cinderella Was One of the Most Important Movies of the ’90s” was a guy who grew up in Baltimore and an American author, playwright, television writer and a advice columnist. He at some point of his life wrote a popular daily humor column covering pop culture and politics, he is also gay. While the other author Vicky Mochama for the article “Brandy’s Black Cinderella Made The Impossible Possible In Hollywood” is a writer, journalist and editor. She has written for the Toronto Star, StarMetro, VICE, Globe and Mail, Refinery29, the Washington Post, and others. For R. Eric Thomas writings the genre is more about cultural criticism and fashion from the 90’s which was published on February 12, 2021 while Vicky Mochama’s article which was published also on february 12, 2021  is more of a film and media conflict genre which is apart of the hollywood industry that is being affected.  For the writing of R. Eric. Thomas I feel like the writing was more for an audience for people that are from the 90’s and their culture so that they can reflect and give their understanding of it from people who watched cinderella back in the 90’s to know their views on this and how diverse it is. But for the writing for Vicky Mochama, it is more for the media and Hollywood industry for them to get an understanding of how they feel that they have diversity in cinderella to see if it will bring backlash or not and if the cast will like it. The context/issue for the article about the 90’s is how they wanted to bring in another culture in the making and to make diversity happen so the actor brady was the first black Cinderella cast ever created and it sparked all over the media and people didn’t like this idea of having a black Cinderella so it lead to a lot of backlash all over the media and in hollywood. This is very similar to the other article of Vicky Mochama since their leading to be diverse created a storm of backlash all over the media and in Hollywood and they just wanted to have a change of culture and strength in order to show the audience a difference for kids and other people of race and culture. I’ll say that these two articles have a very similar purpose, they just wanted a black cinderella who wanted it to seem normal for the people to show them multi-cultural and different diversities for the people to see and they just didn’t want to spread positivity and not have to intention of receiving backlash. Like in the article “Brandy’s Black Cinderella Made The Impossible Possible In Hollywood” it states  “What the production team behind Black Cinderella achieved was not just giving us this perfect picture, but opening the doors to a whole gallery of film and television”. But the article of the 90’s was leading more of how people from the 90’s have felt for their pop culture and representation from back in the 90’s and the shows and how they can reflect back on it on what is happening now. So what I’ll say of what the overall significance of the text is is just how crazy the audience of people can be whether it’s supposed to be directed to a specific audience or not and anybody across all media platforms and Hollywood cast and filmmakers and new articles can see and the portrayed of the message can be seen in many different ways.
